Smart Voter Full Biography for Steve J. Bestolarides

Candidate for
Council Member; City of Stockton; Council District 1

Steve Bestolarides was born in Lodi, California on April 26, 1956.

Steve is the son of Greek immigrants. He earned his baccalaureate degree in Business Administration from the University of the Pacific and later went on to complete his Masters in Finance.

After finishing his education, Steve earned his real estate broker's license. He has worked for Washington Mutual in a variety of different capacities, now serving as a senior construction loan officer.

In 1993, Steve was appointed to the Stockton Planning Commission by Councilwoman Ann Johnston. He has served for the past seven years and was twice elected as Chairman, a position he currently holds. During his tenure, Steve has acted as a strong advocate for the needs of area children and working families.

He has been recognized by the Stockton Unified School District for his support of Walton School for his work raising funds for disabled students. Steve was also presented with a special award from Action on Behalf of Children (ABC) for his outstanding service to community youth.

Steve is also an active member at St. Basil Church, serving on the Parish Council as well as being instrumental in the formation of the church's pre-school.

Steve and his wife, Doreen, were married in 1986. They have two sons: Danny, 12; and Paul, 10.
