Smart Voter Additional Endorsements for Abel Mouton

Candidate for
Community College Board; County of San Francisco

This information is provided by the candidate

Quote from Left Party: "Abel represents the best of our organization. An intelligent, dedicated and committed individual. A working class candidate to serve the interests of the working class. A student at CCSF struggling to link students with workers and people of color in the communities. As a democratic socialist, he is for ending the domination of money and corporations over our colleges and schools, and opposes privatization and sub-contracting. Mouton is incorruptible and accountable to workers and young people."

Quote from the Bay Guardian's endorsement: "For far too long, the San Francisco Community College Board has been dominated by political strivers more concerned about self-promotion than the health of this crucial institution...Abel Mouton is a City College student with a radical platform for reform... Mouton promises to open board business to the public, vowing to vote to put the board under the sunshine law. He pledges to lower the college dropout rate and to address the complaints of part-time staffers, who are paid on a much lower scale than full-timers, even if it means slashing administration salaries."

Quote from Supervisor Matt Gonzalez: "Abel Mouton is a committed progressive who is pushing to democratize City College by giving a voice to all students and faculty of the college -- including immigrant sudents and those who live outside San Francisco's boundaries. He will work to ensure greater accountability in all decision making."

Quote from Supervisor Chris Daly: "I stand up for those shut out of the political process, and the Machine calls me an uncompromising radical. I'm supporting Abel Mouton for College Board, because I want to see what they say about two of us."

Green Party's endorsement statement: "In the race for Community College Board, the Green Party has made the unusual endorsement of both an open socialist and a student and Frontlines newspaper editor Abel Mouton ...Despite past differences, as a Green and stalwart progressive, Abel had the inside track for our endorsement."
