Smart Voter Full Biography for Ed Jew

Candidate for
Supervisor; County of San Francisco; District 4

The son of a taxi driver, Ed Jew is a 3rd generation San Franciscan whose grandfather emigrated from China in the early 1900's. By 1927, his grandfather established the Canton Flower Shop in Chinatown and became a distinguised leader in the community. Today, 75 years later, the family business thrives, managed by Ed and his wife Lisa. Ed and his wife live in the Sunset and have one daughter.

Ed continues to live up to his family's tradition of community service. For the past 2 years, he's been serving residents of District 4 as Supervisor Leland Yee's volunteer community liaison. Active in many issues involving children and families, Ed has taken a leadership role in advocating for neighborhood schools and assisting parents in school placement. In addition, he's a member of the Advisory Council of the Office of Aging, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Chinese Holocaust Museum.
