Managing Budgets with a Strong Fiscal Policy

By Gary S. Hill

Candidate for Board Member; Carlsbad Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Experience in budgets of similar size will help in making the difficult decisions brought about by the State budget shortfall.
Fiscal Policy: We can expect our schools to be impacted by the the budget shortfall in the State. Because some of the most difficult decisions must be made in times when funding is limited, a Trustee with experience in budgets similar in size to CUSD's and also recessionary cuts will be a very valuable asset to the Board. GIA is one of the larger businesses in Carlsbad, where I am recognized for managing my departments within their resources. For example, a $40 million campus project that was under my charge was delivered on time and on budget.
