Modernization of School Sites

By George St. Clair

Candidate for Board Member; Campbell Union High School District

This information is provided by the candidate
The modernization of CUHSD school sites is currently taking place. Passage of a local school bond in 2000 has already dramatically improved all of the high schools within the CUHSD, making them safer and better places in which to teach and learn.
With the re-opening of Branham High School, and opening of the new Boynton High School, the CUHSD is achieving even higher standards of excellence for all students. The current modernization of all school sites will mean that all of our high schools will be equipped to better meet the challenges of higher standards and a changing curriculum, as well as meet current ADA (Disability Act) requirements. Outdated heating and ventilation systems are being replaced and play fields, outdoor courts, and football bowls are being renovated. All these improvements translate into a better teaching/learning environment for our teachers and students.

Passage of the recent school bond has meant that the CUHSD no longer needs to postpone major renovations that will adequately house our students--and enable our teachers to prepare them for the new millenium. Because the CUHSD has successfully maintained a balanced budget necessary to qualify for state school construction funds, dollars raised from a local bond issue will go even further.

I am proud to have been a part of the successful Bond passage and to have helped voters recognize the needs and to support their schools. I am confident that the voters of the CUHSD will continue to support District efforts to raise the standards for all students. I hope to continue to work toward this end.
