I am a former student of Mission College and have been involved with the district for the last 7 years. During these years I have worked hard to represent the best interests of the students at the two colleges within the district.

In a large part I owe my academic success to the support I received from this district community. My candidacy is a tribute to those dedicated inviduals who work here. Therefore, I have a personal vested interest in working towards improving the college environment and educating an increasingly competent workforce.

I am also firmly committed to providing quality education at these institutions of higher learning. California Community College system is the largest system of higher education in the world, and yet we remain underfunded. Mission and West Valley Colleges have their own special place in this system. Mission College has been serving the diverse needs of our community for over 25 years; assisting students with both vocational and baccalaureate goals.

The district desperately needs additional sources of capital to renovate old buildings and replace temporary classrooms with permanent ones. Additionally, Mission College campus has been awaiting completion for 25 years, and it's about time we focus our priorities on providing adequate facilities for the college communities that will enhance the overall student learning experience.

I supported the district in its efforts to promote a Bond Measure (Measure E) in the March primary elections to raise money for district's capital needs to improve facilities at the two campuses. Unfortunately, the Bond Measure was defeated due to a strong opposition from various community groups. If elected I'd work towards finding additional ways to secure adequate funding for the district's capital needs.

As your representative, I will hold myself accountable to you and keep you informed about what we're doing to enhance the overall student experience. The district has a $107 M planned expenditure and hosts about 26,000 students. Your choice for Trustee will directly affect the lives of those 26,000 students and numerous faculty and staff. Please choose the best candidate for the job.

Over my years of participation I have proven my commitment to the betterment of these schools. It is my sincere hope that you will give me an opportunity to serve you in the capacity of your chosen Trustee.

Please VOTE GAGAN SINGH for Trustee on November 5.
