Quality of Life

By Althea Polanski

Candidate for Council Member; City of Milpitas

This information is provided by the candidate
The citizens of Milpitas deserve to feel safe and secure at home, at work and know their families are well protected.
The citizens of Milpitas deserve a safe community provided by professionals in the public service sector (police and fire). It is important that our public safety officers receive the resources and training to continue their response time and protection of our community.

Open space and park lands are vital to a well-rounded community. Smart Growth is important for the City Council to adhere to when developments are proposed in the city. The Midtown Specific Plan creates a unique opportunity to balance jobs, affordable housing, transportation, and open space in a neglected area of Milpitas. To ensure the vision for the Midtown Plan is implemented, it will require candidates with experience, leadership and a record of accomplishment to complete this plan.

As your City Councilwoman, I will seek funding sources to provide for affordable and market level housing for the many hard-working men and women who currently live and/or work in Milpitas.

As a community we must ensure people who work for the City and contract for work with the city are provided a living wage. This is especially important in Milpitas and Santa Clara County. The cost-of-living prohibits anything less from your elected officials.
