Role of the 'county office' (Santa Clara County Office of Education)

You have two school districts to be concerned with. The regular district and 'the other one'...the 'county office of education' Read below and find out what they do.
The 'county office' (acronym: SCCOE) provides a variety of services for your local school district. They include:


.. business services such as budget review, payroll

processing, and pupil attendance accounting


.. human resource services such as recruitment, finger-

printing, and credentials processing.


.. student classrooms with direct services to special

education students (about 1700 students) and to
'alternative' students at the Children's Shelter,
Juvenile Hall and community schools.

The SCCOE provides leadership to the educational community and ensures compliance with petinent educational laws and regulations. It takes student referrals when a local district does not have appropriate program. In effect, the SCCOE supports and assists your local school district in a wide variety of programs and services that provide a total spectrum of educational services.
