Smart Voter Political Philosophy for David Peters

Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Hemet Unified School District; Trustee Area 3; Unexpired Short Term

This information is provided by the candidate

School needs to be a positive place to be! And, the responsibility of a school board member is to see to that.

Therefore, my number one issue is a "Student Bill of Rights." Students should have the right to a credentialed teacher, a classroom, a textbook, and a harassment free environment. Students need to feel comfortable at school.

Next , year-round education needs to be eliminated. Many recent studies show year-round teaching lowers test results. Also, with just a few schools on year- round, it costs the district more money. And why should some students have to go year-round and others do not? This practice is not right.

Finally, continually disruptive students need to be removed from the classroom. Strict rules need to be applied, and students must learn to adhere to them. This way all students are treated equally and fairly. And we can expect academic excellence from all our gifted students.

I truly care about the students that attend Hemet Schools and that it why I am running for the school board. As you have read through my ideas, you can see that my concern is for the students. If you care about the students, then you cannot go wrong by casting a vote for me. This is where my heart is, win or lose.
