Euthanasia for Persons With Disabilities, Living Wage and Prevailing Wage

By Judy A Isaacson

Candidate for City Clerk; City of Cathedral City

This information is provided by the candidate
Oppose all forms of Euthanasia for people with disabilities. Support Living and Prevailing Wage Issues.
Society values human life and people with disabilities are equal members of society and everything that can be done to solve the problem of any suffering should be done. Euthanasia could cause an abuse of power by physicians to perform euthanasia rather than working toward solving the problems causing the pain and suffering. Living Wages is a concept that is taking hold in larger cities with the realization that minimum wage is barely keeping people at the poverty level and not really giving them enough money to "live". A living wage would pay (for the geographic area in question) enough money to pay for housing, food, transportation and clothing essentials. Cities like San Francisco and Los Angeses are debating this now. I think it is a good concept and something to strive for, but each community should debate this within the constraints of their own budgets. Prevailing Wage requires government to pay the average prevailing wage for the area. It keeps contractors from underbidding by cutting wages of their workers.
