Married for over forty-five years, father of seven children, I have lived in the Inland Empire since the mid 1950's, and in Moreno Valley for approximately fourteen years. In the mid 1950's, I was in the United States Air Force, stationed at March AFB.

After my discharge from the Air Force, I was appointed a deputy sheriff in San Bernardino County, where I was promoted in every rank and retired as the Sheriff's Executive Officer (assistant sheriff).After my retirement, I was employed by the University of California-Riverside, first as the Business Officer and Business Services Manager, and retired as the Executive Officer, Business and Financial Services (chief business officer).

Educationally, I attended Riverside Community College and the California State University at San Bernardino, and several other colleges and universities. I earned an Associate of Arts degree in Police Science at San Bernardino Valley College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology from the California State University at Long Beach, and both a Master of Arts degree in Education, and an Education Doctorate degree in Management from Pepperdine University.

Among other public services, I am a former member and president of a school district, past Foreman of the Riverside County Grand Jury, former Army Major in the California State Military Reserve, former advisor to the Commanding General of the Twenty Nine Palms Marine Corps Base for law enforcement issues, curriculum advisor to the Victor Valley College, College of the Desert, and the San Bernardino Valley College. I am a former part-time community college instructor, served on a weekly radio panel, made numerous presentations to city councils and other public service organizations, was on the evaluation panel to evaulate the senior management of the Washington State Police, and was involved in other volunteer public services.
