Candidate for Council Member; City of Corona

Candidate Statement
I love Corona. My friends and family are here. Corona is a special place. I want to keep it that way.

I am excited about running for public office. I have a degree in Public Administration and a passion for government. In my private life I am a claims consultant in the insurance industry. This line of business has taught me fiscal responsibility and the need for proper planning and the value of a dollar. With your support I hope to bring these traits and experience to the City of Corona as a council member.

As a husband and father, I'm concerned about our children. They need positive alternatives. They need quality education. There are children in Corona who cannot attend school in their own neighborhood. I want to change this and build a better partnership between the city and schools.

I'm concerned about our senior citizens as well. We must do more to serve our senior citizen community and the city's services must be modernized for our aging population.

I see the impact of crime on our community. The safety of our senior citizens and our families comes first. To fight crime we must put more police officers on the street to protect you and your loved ones. I also support emergency preparedness initiatives and I am a proud member of our city's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

I oppose endless sprawl. I have witnessed firsthand the changes of growth and expansion that Corona is undergoing. There is only so much land, water, and other resources. What we should do is protect the Cleveland National Forest for our children's children instead of encroaching upon it. In addition growth strains city services. There's only a limited number of schools as well as available freeway space. Every time I travel the 91-freeway, I realize that the current condition of the road cannot continue.

As your council member I will manage growth and protect your quality of life. Traffic will be controlled and alternate transportation routes will found. I will make the city more pedestrian/bicycle friendly. I will push for better flood control measures, to refurbish parks, buildings, and streets, and for a revitalized 6th Street. Code enforcement will also take priority as we have for so long tolerated ugly garage and car sales signs along our residential streets.

I want to make government accountable to our citizens. We need to review city processes and use technology to serve citizens affordably and quickly. I will push to make Corona a leader in electronic government. My vision is of power resting in the hands of the neighborhoods. I ask for your involvement and your vote to help make that vision a reality in Corona.
