This information is provided by the candidate

I grew up in Texas and have a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from The University of Texas at Arlington. My husband and I have lived in Huntington Beach for 20 years. We have a son who is serving in the Army and a daughter attending Marina High School. We have been very active in organizations supporting children, from Parent Teacher Organizations, to Little League to Boy and Girl Scout Troops where we worked hard to ensure great experiences for all participants. As a trustee for the past 8 years I have also worked hard to ensure great experiences for children. OVSD embraced the most significant school reform measure in decades and was the first district in OC to reduce all K-3 class sizes to 20 or fewer students. 14 of 15 schools have received California Distinguished School recognition. Marine View Middle School was one of only 175 schools nationwide to recieve the prestigious National Blue Ribbon School Award. We kept a 10-year promise to build gymnasium/auditoriums for all 4 middle schools. We opened a preschool and an adult education center at Oak View School in cooperation with UCI and HBUHSD. The district has established and income stream of over $1.6 million from leasing of closed school sites which is used to maintain and upgrade school facilities. We recieved an A plus rating from the bond rating agency Standard and Poors.
