Official Candidate Statement

By Michael J. Verrengia

Candidate for Board Member; Westminster School District

This information is provided by the candidate
This is the statement I placed in the voter pamphlet that will be mailed in October
As your School Board Trustee, I am proud of our recent accomplishments and ask for your support to continue my work for excellence in education.

Westminster was the first school district in California scrap bilingual education and go to the English immersion method of teaching English. Our system is working! Our success rate is double the state average and the highest in Orange County.

Our school facilities are in top rate condition.

We enjoy a low 20-1 student to teacher ratio in grades K-3.

The District changed to Basic Math and "Phonics" style language arts.

We are one of the few District's that offer a well-rounded curriculum, including music, art and our Beckman science program.

In recognition of their excellent leadership, our Superintendent and top staff have all received local or state level awards this year.

This same excellence in leadership has carried over to outstanding relationships with our district employees. Teachers want to work in Westminster. Last year we 150 applications for 56 teacher openings.

Since being elected, I have completed the CSBA "Master's of Boardsmanship" and "Masters of Governance" study programs. These programs help me be more effective on your behalf.

I ask for your support on Election Day.
