ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

By Marilynn M. Poe

Candidate for Council Member; City of Los Alamitos

This information is provided by the candidate
Bringing new viable business to our city will bring additional sales tax that will increase our financial stability.
I have set in motion the reinstatment of a the BUSINESS REVITILIZATION COMMITTEE that was formed in 1992. This committe will consist of our Community Development Director, 2 Council Members, a Los Alamitos Chamber of Commerce representative, Directors of any non-profit that are interested, owners of any existing business that are interested and community residents. This committee will be charged with formulating a plan to market our community in such a way that new business will want to be a part of our city.

I wholeheartedly support the Utility Tax, Measure Q, that is on this November ballot. Without the Utility Tax, our quality of life will suffer miserably. The increase of business into our community will increase our sales tax and thereby allow us to reduce or even eliminate the tax. That should always be our goal.
