Board Member; Ocean View School District

Kids First! No Matter What.

Dear Friends and Neighbors;

I seek your support of my candidacy for re-election to the Ocean View School District Board of Trustees. My husband, a pediatrician, and I have lived in this district for 25 years. We have three children in the public school system and believe good schools are a wise investment for our community. I am a strong advocate of parental involvement, community and business partnerships, and long range strategic planning.

I have worked tirelessly the last twelve years to create the optimal school environment for our children and community. In addition to the accomplishments listed on the front of this flyer, the district has, during my tenure:

  • Balanced every budget and maintained the state required reserve for emergencies.

  • Received an A+ financial rating from Standard and Poors.

  • Increased staff involvement in training and textbook adoptions.

  • Showed significant increases in test scores with Oak View School showing a 100-point gain on the statewide API rating.

I need your help and support so that I may continue these tasks and further enhance our schools and community by:

  • Increasing non-tax revenues to the district through leases and grants without raising your local taxes.

  • Modernizing schools according to our ten-year plan.

  • Implementing the new Federal "No Child Left Behind" legislation.

  • Keeping the focus on classroom support during difficult budget years.

Sincerely,

Tracy Pellman
