Biography

A proud member of the Naval Reserve, Stephen Melvin has lived in Tustin with his wife Stephanie for the past eight years.

A native Californian, Stephen is a Principal Engineer for Risk Management Professionals, a risk analysis firm that works to ensure that communities are safe from releases of hazardous materials in the air, drinking water and ground water due to accidents or attacks.

Some of Stephen's projects have included developing the Orange County Fire Authority's program to review risk management plans for hazardous materials, co-chairing the Region I Local Emergency Planning Committee's largest subcommittee and serving as an active member of the Orange County Private Sector Terrorism Response Group, sponsored by Sheriff Mike Carona.

An Eagle Scout and Vice Chairman of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Stephen has been involved in the Tustin Community through his work with Tustin Pride, the Citizen's Police Academy, the Tustin Veterans Appreciation Committee and his church, St Cecilia's Parish where he lectors, teaches and mentors as a Knight of Columbus.

Stephen received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego and has an Associate Degree in Engineering Studies from Mesa Community College. He Married Stephanie Nevin in 1997 and their first child was born in June of this year.
