I spent the past 31 1/2 years as a law enforcement officer, the last six years of which were spent as the Chief of Police. I progressed rapidly through the ranks of the department and was a supervisor for over twenty-eight years. I have spent time in a variety of assignments including patrol, planning and research, school resources, hostage negotiations, dignitary protection and special event planning and as the liaison to the City of Yorba Linda. Along the way I managed to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Law, a Juris Doctorate Degree in Law and in 1990 I graduatef from the prestigious two year "Command College" program at Cal-Poly Pomona. I have been decorated a number of times by my department for courage and bravery and I received recognition from the Governor as one of the "Top Cops" in the State (1991). I also received the department's "Life Saving Medal" for field actions while in the patrol division. I have been, and I still am, active in my church, coaching youth sports and providing support to the American Heart Association, the Boy's and Girl's Club, the Luekemia Society, and a variety of other philanthropic organizations. I was brought up to believe that "...to whom much is given, much is expected". I realized very early on in my career that I was blessed to live and work in such a wonderful community. My children (Kelley and Kory), now grown, received a wonderful education in a safe and caring environment. I feel a deep debt of gratitude to my community and I believe public service is one way in which to repay that debt.
