My philosophy about government is simple:

  • Lower taxes
  • Smaller government
  • Fiscal responsibility

Government is of, for, and by the people. I pledge to listen and be available for opinions and research given by citizens of Huntington Beach, and others who have concerns regarding our city. I will use sensible decision-making by gathering information regarding every issue, and voting with a keen sense of responsibility to the voters.

The return to more local control is a relevant concern in gaining and keeping property tax, and other municipal income that our city needs to pay for the many fine services that make our city one of America's safest cities. In the next ten years, cities across our state face five landmark lawsuits that can possibly effect municipal budgets with a loss of revenue.

We need a more "Vibrant Business Community" that provides more sales revenue needed for infrastructure maintenance and upkeep of our streets, curbs, parks, and sewers; as well as continue our premiere services, and keep our beaches clean and open.

Allowing the "Free Market Enterprise System" to work its course, and respecting Property Rights as written in the Constitution will allow for a stronger local economy, keep property values up, highlight our excellent school system, and support our community's much needed services for everyone.

Greater sales income would assure us of continued police and fire "premiere" service of which our city has been known for many years. Increased Local Sales Revenue can make us more independent of the State of California for revenue.

"10 Great Goals to make Huntington Beach the Greatest City in America!"

  • I will Listen, making government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

  • Revenue Independence from the State, Increased Sales brings Increased "Cash Flow" to "Pay As We Go!"

  • Vibrant "Business Friendly" Community increases revenue, provides much needed income.

  • Keep Property Values Up, provides more equity and ability for re-investments.

  • Highlight Excellent Schools and Parks, provides academic opportunities and leisure-time activities for Youth, Seniors, and Fitness Enthusiasts.

  • Ensure Premiere Police and Fire Service, continued high quality of services.

  • Maintain Infrastructure, Streets, Sidewalks, & Sewers, provides the support for our city's success.

  • Preserve our Hard-earned tax dollars, spend wisely; run our city like a business.

  • Support Huntington Beach, "A Destination in the Making"

  • Clean and Open Beaches keeps a quality image for our city and brings visitors and revenue to support our budget needs.

Our City is the "Pearl of the California Coast!" This high quality attraction will be our source of income that will pay our bills and provide for our high quality of life. It will provide for more jobs, leisure-time activities, greater shopping venue, and many restaurants for the enjoyment of our visitors and Huntington Beach Residents.

I pledge to empower "us" to reach these goals for our future and our high quality of life.

With Great Commitment,

Diane
