John Koos, candidate for Anaheim City Council, has a proven record of advocacy on behalf of Anaheim's neighborhoods and schools.

Koos, a parent with three school-age daughters, serves as Chair of Anaheim Citizens for Elementary Schools, a coalition of local business and PTA leaders, teachers, and parents successfully working to improve classrooms and complete important health-and-safety upgrades for students.

During his four years as a Planning Commissioner, Koos has led the fight to protect Anaheim's unique and historic homes and commercial districts, spearheading efforts to stop the spread of unsightly billboards, liquor stores, and pawn shops that threaten the character of our neighborhoods.

A Transportation and Urban/Regional Planning expert, Koos believes that we must reduce traffic congestion and increase citizen participation in development and planning decisions. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Citizens' Advisory Committee for the Orange County Transportation Authority, and is also Vice Chair of Anaheim's Community Development Advisory Board.

Koos is an active member of the Kiwanis Club and Director of the Anaheim Public Library Foundation Board.

If elected, his priorities will include neighborhood-based public services and open office hours; street and sidewalk repair; and improved education.
