What I Stand For

By Bill Gray

Candidate for Board Member; Irvine Unified School District; 2 Year Short Term

This information is provided by the candidate
I want to tell you the principles which will guide me if elected.
Maintain Quality Education

I am committed to maintain the special quality of education in the Irvine School District. This includes quality programs such as music, science and art. It also includes fair & equal access to quality athletic programs and facilities for all students in the District.

We Need To Stand On Our Own Two Feet

We need to find new and creative means of funding the operation of the District. We cannot rely on Sacramento to help us. While we must continue to seek out our fair share of school funds, we also have to look to ourselves. We have access to tremendous resources in Irvine and we need to find a way to tap those resources.

No More Neighborhood School Closures

Neighborhood schools are a hallmark of the Irvine school system. We cannot let the principle of the neighborhood school be sacrificed to expediency. I will strive to keep the neighborhood school in place in your neighborhood and throughout the rest of Irvine as well.

These principles, as well as a good dose of common sense, are what I will bring to a seat on the School Board.
