By Bruce J. Obbink

Candidate for Councilmember; City of Pacific Grove; Full Term

Current proceedures for public hearing notice lacks effectivness. Everyone wants Senior housing so let's get on with it. The Pacific Grove golf club house is over 40 years old. It needs to be replaced.
We should re-evaluate how we give notice of public hearings. Projects which are substantilly modified after receiving city approval should be re-opened for publice debate before the modifications are approved.

Our senior housing center is well on its way to reality, after years of study and planning. No project of that size will meet with universal approval. The center won't accommodate all of those that need it, but it's a good start - let's get on with it.

Golfers and non-golfers alike have agreed that the clubhouse at the Pacific Grove Golf Links is badly in need of replacement. The golf enterprise fund is suppported solely by the golfers themselves to pay for such projects. A new clubhouse would be financed from this fund, not by the city's taxpayers.
