Candidate for
District Attorney; County of El Dorado

The District Attorney in El Dorado County should not just be a figurehead. The District Attorney is and should be a trial lawyer. You elect the District Attorney to go to trial, along with his staff, to protect the citizens of the county. He is YOUR trial attorney. The District Attorney represents the People of the State of California, specifically in El Dorado County.

Law Enforcement needs to trust its attorney. They need to believe in the People's representative. Law Enforcement works with The District Attorney's office every day. Law Enforcement knows who the People can trust to best represent the People's interests. Law Enforcement needs to have a District Attorney who can communicate effectively and regularly with officers to help protect and serve the public.

I will provide leadership for the community to help stop crime. The District Attorney cannot sit back and hope that problems go away. The District Attorney must make a legal stand, whether that loses votes or not. To be a leader, the District Attorney must interpret the laws. The District Attorney must also go out into the community and take a role in educating the people of the county about how the law applies to them.

Cases should be evaluated for prosecution, not for how they will make the District Attorney look, but for how justice is best served. Citizen input is necessary to the proper evaluation of cases. Cases need to be evaluated based on common sense and community standards to make sure that the right result is achieved.

No one area is more important than another when it comes to fighting crime. There are areas, however, that law enforcement is constantly fighting: spousal abuse, elder abuse, drug/alcohol abuse, juvenile crimes, and identity theft. I will work with law enforcement to stop these crimes before they happen, where possible.

The District Attorney is the top law enforcement position in the County. Whoever is in that position needs the support of all the law enforcement agencies. I have the endorsement of all the county's law enforcement agencies.
