Years of leadership and community service in support of fire and ambulance issues, such as introducing and securing annual supplemental funding of $692,000 for 8 rural fire districts,including Mosquito, Georgetown, Garden Valley, and Rescue, wins praise of El Dorado County Professional Firefighters.
The following letter was received from the El Dorado County Professional Firefighters Association on Feb 15, 2002:

"It is my distinct pleasure to notify you that after careful consideration of all candidates for El Dorado County Board of Supervisors, District 4 the members of the El Dorado County Professional Firefighters Association officially and publically endorse you for this important and esteemed office. As you know, the El Dorado County Professional Firefighters Association is comprised of professional firefighters and paramedics of the El Dorado County Fire Protection District. A substantial portion of the El Dorado County Fire Protection District exists within the supervisorial boundaries of District 4. On balance, we believe that you uniquely possess the qualifications and characteristics necessary to execute the responsibilities of this office. Moreover, we believe your goals, opinions, and views for shaping of public policies and issues important to professional firefighters are similar to our own. As we have discussed, we admire your leadership and respect your fairminded willingness to listen to the views of others and to work cooperatively to achieve success. We wholeheartedly and enthusiastically support your candidacy."
