Why Am I Running?

By Betty Weibert

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Clayton

This information is provided by the candidate
Clayton needs leaders who have experience, are fiscally responsible, and have not only the energy and dedication, but also concern, loyalty, and the ethics of hard work and caring.
For more than 25 yrs I have invested both time and energy getting to know the community and understanding the direction Clayton citizens want their city to take. Through my years as Planning Commissioner, Community Services Commissioner and Library Commissioner, I have gained knowledgeable experience and continue to have the desire to make a difference. I have learned how our city system operates and the dynamics of our city interactions both locally and regionally.

I can bring leadership, years of experience, fiscal responsibility, energy, dedication, concern, loyalty and an ethic of hard work and caring to the position. I have listened to this community's citizens and will continue to work on creating a vibrant small town atmosphere with great parks, trails, schools and at the same time, a city with a solid financial base. Experience is needed as we grapple with regional issues of housing, transportation and finance so that Clayton continues to be able to maintain its identity the way Clayton citizens would like it to be. If elected, this is what I will work on for all of us citizens of Clayton.
