I moved to California in 1955 when my father's 26 year military career in the Marine Corps required us to relocate. My father participated in 3 wars, and I was a military 'brat'. My family's ancestral home is Farmington, Middletown and Hartford Connecticut. I was born in Hartford. Our moving took my family to North Carolina, California, Hawaii and back to California.

I graduated college in 1969 from California State University Fullerton with a BA degree in Psychology with a second major in Mathematics and a minor in German. My freshman year was done at the University of Hawaii.

I have been happily married to Jim Weibert for 36 years, and we have two sons, Thomas and Brian, both married and with 3 children each. We have lived in Clayton for 25 years. Jim is an electronic engineer in the telephone industry. Currently he is employed by Cingular Wireless.

I was a stay at home mom until my sons were 10 and 13 years of age. During that time I was an active community volunteer in the schools, scouting and civic organizations.

I reentered the work force in order to pay for the increasing costs of raising an active family. I educated myself in computer programming through the county's Regional Occupation Program as preparation for the job market. I have an analytical and scientific background and education.

I worked in the commerical real estate industry as a Limited Partnership Administrator for nine years. I was responsible for the accounting of the investors monies, project escrows, loan documentation and marketing literature for commercial shopping centers, storage units, apartment houses and industrial office buildings. I also worked with the bankruptcy courts on interim building ownership and commercial leaseups.

I moved to the crop protection industry in 1990 and moved up the ladder at Valent USA Corporation. Valent is a former division of Chevron Corp. It was bought by Sumitomo Chemical in 1991 and is Sumitomo Chemical's North American company. I was in charge of all federal level product labeling for the herbicide and insecticide products both in the Agricultural and the Professional divisions. My job entailed understanding the rules and regulations developed by the Environmental Protection Agency, incorporating these regulatory requirements into the product labels, and filing the labeling changes for approval with EPA. I developed label copy for the sales and marketing forces using desktop publishing programs. I also produced our Product Guides for both the Agricultural and Professional divisions. I traveled extensively to Wasington DC as part of the job. I represented Valent nationally on an industry project to design effective barcoding for the crop protection products as they moved from the manufacturing process through the supply chain. I chaired the regulatory portion of the project. My cohorts were from DOW, Monsanto, Dupont, ICI, Bayer, Zeneca, etc. I retired in 1999.

During my working years, I also participated in our children's enrichment programs such as scouting, track and field, soccor, teaching at the Clayton Community School.

I believe in giving back to the community and society in general the time, caring and leadership my family experiences. We have all volunteered in this community.

I am a trained Boy Scouts of America leader. I am a graduate of the 1985 class of Woodbadge (an advanced Boy Scout training program). In 1985, this was a rare occurance for a woman to participate and graduate from this program. I was an Explorer Advisor for a co-ed leadership development program for 12 years. I have attended Philmont Scout Ranch and completed a National Scounting Fundraising Course. I did fundraising for Scouting for about 10 years at the District and Council levels. I held a position on the executive board of the Exploring Division and on Muir District's board.

Our sons are Eagle Scouts. Our son, Tom, was a national vice president in the Exploring Division and worked on the development of the D.A.R.E. program as BSA's representative to Health, Education and Welfare during George Bush, Sr's. administration. Our son, Brian, was the Senior Patrol Leader for Jamboree Troop 915 led by Stephen Pierce, Councilmember Pierce's spouse. Brian also was selected by the national council to teach a leadership program at Philmont Scout Ranch.

I am a life member of the American Association of University Women and have been President of Clayton Branch, Interbranch Council Chair (Contra Costa County) and served on many statewide committees. I am also a life member of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia and am the statewide treasurer for 7 years now. I am a member of the Clayton Business and Community Association, the Clayton Woman's Club and the Clayton Garden Club.

I wrote up and filed the 501(c)3 incorporation documents and am the incorporating officer for the Clayton Community School and the Clayton Library Foundation. These tax classifications were successfully obtained. I was treasurer for both organizations during the formation process. I was also Board chair for the Clayton Community School.

During the time AAUW was working on getting the library built and funded, Clayton formed a Community Services Commission. I applied and was accepted. I served on the commission for 4 years and was chairperson. I helped draft the agreement between Mt. Diablo School District and the City of Clayton for use of the Community Park fields both during school hours and after school. I drafted the rules and application forms for rental of Clayton park and community room facilities. I did financial studies on fee structures and water usages.

When an opening became available on the Planning Commission I applied for and was selected. I have served there for 5 1/2 years. I have been Chair and currently serve as Vice-chair. During my chairship, we were very busy as a city negotiating and approving the Fire Station, Endeavor Hall, Center Street improvements, Post Office, Library relandscaping and additional parking and a commercial office building. I led the initial design review of the assisted senior facility.

I currently represent Clayton on TRANSPAC, a consortium of central county cities working on transporation issues. I further represent Clayton on the County Library Commission, and I represent Contra Costa County on the Bay Area Library and Information Services citizens advisory committee. This committee plans budgeting of federal funds for Bay area libraries.

In my capacity as a Clayton planning commissioner I have attended the statewide Planning conferences put on by the League of Cities, the regional Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG)and participated in the Shaping our Future project (Contra Costa County). All these conferences provide training in housing, transporation and finance issues along with regulatory information and networking sessions for idea exchanges.

I do have a fun side which I have been able to expand since I am "retired". I love to create and build and figure out how items are made. I sew using computer generated patterns fitted to my body shape. I also use computer embroidery programs on the sewing machine. I craft with paint, wood, fabric, food. I help the Clayton Woman's club with their holiday boutique held the second weekend in November. We meet every Thursday morning and make craft projects. The monies raised at the boutique goes to designated charity groups.

I assist one son in his eBay business. I specialize in identifying china and glassware patterns and their age. Photographing them and uploading descriptions to the website where his inventory is held.

I am known for being creative, organized, energetic, knowledgeable, dedicated and a good listener. I do my best, have energy and a positive outlook, and I care about others and our environment and the City of Clayton.

I have authored and designed my own brochure and this website. Please contact me via email at bjweib@yahoo.com or call if you need information or have questions. I will respond, find answers and I do care.

If you have read this far, you are a trooper! Thank you.
