Development of Bay Point

By Michael Francisco "Mike" Sarabia

Candidate for Member, 4 Year; Bay Point Municipal Advisory Council

This information is provided by the candidate
A Vision of industrial development for the future.
The first task is to develop a plan, second, take it to the planning Commission of Pittsburg and the County to gain their support, avoid conflicts and find areas of mutual benefit which will lead to mutual support.
Next, verify which assurances can be given to prospective industrial developers. They will want land, service facilities, workers and transporation.
Next, use Internet and newspapers to promote all that the County and Bay Point can provide.
Bay Point can provide workers willing to learn new skills; and, BART can provide experienced workers from anywhere in the Bay Area.
Contra Costa County and Pittsburg will probably support a worthy plan, not a day dream, that does not conflict with any of their current plans.
Ultimately, the Vision is to ask the County, State and the Navy for Port Chicago Naval Base to be part of the City of Bay Point. Without this source of jobs, Bay Point may not be viable as a city. Police protection to be provided by contract with the County Sheriff.
