IVOR'S PHILOSOPHY OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT

  • Provide clear direction and management oversight to City staff
  • Don't micro-manage
  • The City Council should listen to and be responsive to the residents
  • Be fiscally prudent and spend only on clear City priorities
  • Decision-making must be fair, objective and analytical
  • Stand up for what you believe in and don't be afraid to say "no"

IVOR'S PRIORITIES FOR LAFAYETTE

  • Preserve and protect our existing neighborhoods
  • Protect local land use control from surrounding regional impacts
  • Adopt an amended General Plan that reflects the goals of our community
  • Ensure that City services are provided efficiently and in a cost effective and customer friendly manner
  • Site and develop affordable and desirable senior housing
  • Successfully fund and construct a new Lafayette Library and Veteran's Memorial Hall;
  • Build a community dog park
  • Continue to rejuvenate the downtown area while still maintaining its "small town" character

SOME OF IVOR'S CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Consistently protected and preserved Lafayette's hillsides, ridgelines, and open spaces

  • Consistently protected and preserved the integrity and character of existing neighborhoods

  • Supported road and storm drain improvements using bond financing, not tax dollars

  • Supported downtown beautification and rejuvenation (mostly successful)

  • Improved public noticing and traffic calming procedures

  • Voted for improvements to Lafayette Community Park and St. Mary's Road ball fields

  • Prudently manages our tax dollars

  • Practical and focused approach to decision-making
