Candidate for
Member, City Council; City of San Pablo

I am 52 years old, married, with two children and two grandchildren. I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. My parents immigrated from Mexico and raised fourteen children. Thireen were born in El Paso, Texas with the eldest being born in Mexico.

I moved to California right after high school graduation and attended Contra Costa College then transferred to Mills College and received a B.A degree in Pyschology. I then went on for my graduate studies at U.C. Berkeley and received a Masters degree in Social Work.

My two children attended public schools and also graduated from college; my daughter from Mills College and my son from U.C. Davis. My daughter's children are now attending West County public schools too. While my children were in public schools, I was very active in their school's P.T.A.s and in afterschool activities as a parent volunteer.

For the past 20 years, I have been employed by Contra Costa County Mental Health Division. I have worked with the seriously and persistently mentally ill adults and their families in west contra costa county. My work has ranged from working with an individual person and their recovery plan to supervising a day treatment program. Because of my professional training and experience, I believe I have the necessary skills to be an effective Council member.
