I have an engineering degree from Arizona State University. I have additional training through the Naval Ships System Command in "Maintainability and Reliability Program Planning and Administration", and "Value Engineering". Through the Naval Air Command I received training on "Defense Works Methods and Standards", and "Methods Time Measurement", among others.

I believe I can make a difference as an advocate for the people as Director, Ward 3, AC Transit.

After nearly 30 years of living in Oakland and working for several companies as an engineer, the base closure of Alameda's Naval Aviation Depot had me entering the political process.

I served on several EBCRC Committees. I served on Alameda BRAG Committees. I was appointed to the West Oakland WOCAG. I was part of the first volunteers who made the Aircraft Carrier Hornet Museum a reality for Alameda. I worked and gave tours.

I pushed for the creation of a Public Transit Committee for the City of Alameda, and was appointed to that committee.

I helped create the Community Reuse Plan for the Naval Air Station, Alameda. I helped create a Community Reuse Plan for the Oakland Army Base (twice, because BCDC changed the Port of Oakland through-put requirements).

I helped create a Public Transit Plan for the City of Alameda.

I lobbied for changes to AC Transit lines to better serve base reuse at OAB and NAS, and the Hornet Museum.

I was an outspoken advocate of the San Jose Avenue residents and their petition to remove Lines 51 and 35X from their residential street. The change happened August 25, 2002.

I believe this training and my work at the Naval Aviation Depot, Alameda, Production Engineering Department, Methods and Standards Division, and having attended nearly all the AC Transit Board meetings, and many of the Committee meetings (often as the lone member of the "public") over the last seven years or so, make me uniquely suited to serve as Director, Ward 3, AC Transit, to improve service and operations.

I have worked for better bus service for: West Oakland Residents, for OAB tenant businesses, for San Jose Avenue residents, for Alameda Point tenants and for the National Historic Landmark, the Aircraft Carrier Hornet Museum.

I will listen, and we will work together to bring better, more equitable service to everyone.
