Position Papers
Delaine Eastin as a potential Superintendent
Ms. Eastin has my guarded optimism. I have two issues:
1. Can Newark afford Delaine Eastin and fill the other positions without impacting current programs (e.g., reading recovery); and
2. Can we insure buy-in from all interested parties.
We need to reach a fair accord ensuring that funds are not borrowed from the general account. Finally, the Teachers, CSEA, City, and Community must play a vital role in the selection process. Without buy-in, we will not realize the success that awaits us.
Affordable Housing for Staff
There is not enough information to take a position. While the schools need additional revenue streams, a solid business case has not been presented. Perhaps, the City of Newark should partnership with the schools in preparing a good business case analysis prior to making a joint decision.
Campaign Statement
This November our community will elect new trustees to the Newark School Board. Your decision is critical and I appreciate your support. Our children's future begins now!
I am a proven advocate for our children. My knowledge of Newark's schools and background in business and engineering provides me with the expertise to represent your needs and provide new leadership in an environment of economic challenges. Please Vote Charlie Mensinger for School Board.
