"The will of the people" is alive and well in the Tri-Valley. We're making a difference. Let's keep it going.
"The will of the people" is alive and well in the Tri-Valley. The people of the Tri-valley area, after a five-year struggle, no longer face the prospect of having to drink recycled wastewater. On Oct 17 the Dublin San Ramon Services District officially adopted a new policy for it's ill-advised reverse-osmosis plant.

Two years ago, Dublin and San Ramon voters replaced two incumbents with candidates who opposed injection of treated wastewater into the aquifer. The City of Pleasanton and Zone 7 sued to stop the injection plan. A Superior Court judge ordered the water quality control board to take a second look at the plan.

On August 9th candidates filed for this November 5th election for the DSRSD Board. It was at the next regular meeting of the Board, on August 20th, that the incumbents first made public their intention to reverse their positions with regard to the injection of treated wastewater into the groundwater.

But there is more to do. The Directors who approved the R-O plant still hold a three-to-two majority on the board. We must make sure they aren't tempted to throw good money after bad in an attempt to "save face" on their 1997 decision.

The three member majority still doesn't "get it" with respect to the public will. They could have let the people vote on this controversial project just as they should have allowed a public vote on the wastewater pipeline. If I'm elected, you will get a vote on such controversial or extremely expensive projects.
