Improved Student Achievement

It is vital that every student reach their full potential, that is why the San Lorenzo School District must remain focused on student achievement. To improve student achievement we must prepare our students to meet appropriate academic standards. When teaching these standards it is important to recognize that every person is different; each student has their own unique talents, abilities, and interests. If our students are going to succeed we must allow them to use their learning strengths to develop their learning weaknesses. One way this can be accomplished is through project based learning; this concept seeks to connect a students interests with an array of subjects. By moving our instruction methods toward project-based learning, and similar concepts, we will be providing each of our students with a solid education.

Character Education

In addition to academic strength, it is important that our students exemplify good citzenship. As we teach math, science, and history, our schools must also address the importance of a good character. In addition to knowing about nouns and verbs, our students must also know the value of helping others. Parents teach their students postive values at home, and we must reinforce that in the classroom. With character based lessons and a fous on postive citizenship, the San Lorenzo School Distrit will be doing its part to create productive members of society.

Strong Community

In order to improve student achievement it is vital that all community stakeholders continue to play a role in the education of our students. The School Board must seek input from the community, and community members must be prepared to play a role in the implementation of those ideas and suggestions. Public education requires public involvement; parents, senior citizens, and young adults must do their part to provide our students with a solid education. In the coming months and year we must explore ways to provide the community with some constructive and resourceful ways for them to be involved in the education of our students.
