I have lived in Albany for 30 years with my wife Anne, and we have put three children through the fine Albany schools.

"An Independent Voice." The City Council votes together in comfortable unanimity 95% of the time. However, as Council member I alone voted against: the proposed cardroom at the racetrack; arbitrary dismissal of public-spirited City commissioners; government buildings on parks. I campaigned aginst the recent change from elected to appointed Police Chief because it reduces the kind of separation of powers exemplified in our Constitution.

On the other hand, I voted for the Eastshore State Park, Bay Trail, and Albany Hill Park, and fields for baseball and soccer. I have fully supported the Police and Fire departments, library, schools, and our professional civil servants. I support public transit and bicycle paths.

I want to maintain Albany's single-family-home ambiance, with mixed use in commercial zones. We must maintain our healthy business climate, with proactive consultation. Generally, Albany is in good shape, and I'd like to help keep it that way.
