LEADING BY EXAMPLE

By Helen K. Foster

Candidate for Member, Governing Board; San Lorenzo Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
I am committed to ensuring that every San Lorenzo student graduate with technological knowledge and access to successful college or vocational pathways. School boards should LEAD BY EXAMPLE. If we want our students to attend college and have successful vocations, we need board members who have 4 year college degrees, or at the very least have successful, high paying vocations in our California economy. Important questions to consider as you decide whom to vote for include:

1. Which board members have a 4 year college degree?

2. Do any board members have 1 or more children attending local schools?

3. Are any board members employed in high paying jobs that will sustain them in this expensive Northern California economy?

4. As a parent, teacher or other district employee, wouldn't you feel more comfortable knowing that your school board reflects your perspectives?

I ask for your vote on November 5, 2002 to represent YOU on the San Lorenzo School Board so that ALL constituents are represented. As a homeowner, I would like to see people buying San Lorenzo, Cherryland and Ashland homes because of the GREAT SCHOOLS! That will only happen when the board reflects the constituents at-large and is able to empathize with the hard work that we, as community members, face on a day-to-day basis.
