If elected into office Juline Fisher will -

Work with administration and employees to see that they are given the support needed to raise API scores in our District. We need to focus on Student Achievement in San Lorenzo. Following the Strategic Plans set forth by administration and previous boards, we need to remain focused on our goals to help us to achieve our end result, higher test scores. I want to give our students the tools necessary to reach their highest potential possible in education.

Another specific change that I would like to see is an open communication between the board members and employees of the district. I believe in mutual respect between teachers, staff, board members and administration. The trust between the board and unions was damaged last year. This was in direct response to salary increases given to upper district administration. Some individuals and groups saw the way this was accomplished as unfair. We need to address these feelings with information. Our employees district are the back bone of our district. If we want to turn out a product of students who are prepared for continued education and the world of work, we need to ensure that our district's hires employees who are top notch and content with their career choice.

I would also like to see increased parent involvement in our schools. One step may be to participate in more school functions throughout the district as a board member and parent.

I believe that the next step in advancing the district's technology education is to find more funding through grants or partnerships with businesses. Expanded and more advanced training for teachers and staff through workshops or conferences would help instructors to align our eLearning program to the state standards.

I will also work in collective collaboration with the other Board members to determine our goals as a team. I am a true team player.

I would like to learn more about how a district works and where all the money is going towards education. I have always been amazed when we don't have money in the school for different programs that must be supported by local parent groups. I would like to gain a better understanding of why.
