Over the last eight years, Mayor Shirley Dean has rolled up her sleeves every day and worked to turn Berkeley around, tackling the tough problems.

Mayor Dean has saved neighborhoods by turning blighted properties into decent housing, closing down drug houses and liquor stores.

She helped to make our public schools cleaner and safer while keeping the High School Health Clinic open.

Dean fought for the most vulnerable of our population by establishing home visits for every at-risk newborn baby. She implemented a program which sends Cal students into neighborhoods enrolling eligible families in health insurance.

Dean put more police on the beat and fought to get handguns off our streets.

Dean revitalized our Downtown and used the increased tax revenue to create hundreds of units of affordable housing.

As Mayor, she will continue working to tackle crime, restore excellence to Berkeley's schools and make Berkeley the solar energy capital of the world!
