Meet Mike Schaefer Candidate for Secretary of State Born March 25, 1938, San Diego, Ca.,, Educated at Notre Dame, San Diego State, UC Berkeley, Georgetown Law and USC graduate studies.

Public service as City Prosecutor and two-term City Councilman, City of San Diego, 1964-71, was California's youngest city councilman.

Specialist in election litigation, responsible for random-alphabet for listing of candidates on ballots, voided bans on write-in voting in the cities of San Diego and San Francisco, and assured fair residence requirements in federal elections nationwide. Mike's Victories in the U.S.. 9th Circuit and California appeals courts have been recognized by legal scholars and featured in nationally syndicated news commentary. He has won court battles decades ago against then Secretary of State March Fong Eu, who now, at 80, is a leading Democratic in the upcoming March 5th primary election for the post.

Father of sons Derek and Mike, Schaefer is active in his church and civic organizations, having founded Toastmaster and Kiwanis Clubs, served on legislative committees of business and governmental groups, and to the belongsFriars Club, Kentucky Colonels, NAACP and the Knights of Columbus.

As Secretary of State, Mike Schaefer pledges to " look out for you ",assuring a level playing field in all California elections, assure fundamental fairness in our laws and how they are applied. As chief election officer, the costly problems other states have sufferehe will avoid d; as chief notary, he will see that notaries are more readily available and at minimum expense. He will work with lawmakers of both parties and strive to have government work with good business sense, avoiding waste, promoting efficiency, from the Dept. Of Motor Vehicles to quality in our educational facilities.
