Ed has supported Choice and other Women's Issues for many years. This is why the California Nurses Association and many women state legislators and other involved women support Ed ( see endorsement list).
WOMEN'S ISSUES

"I support a woman's right to choose, unequivocally and without reservation. The advances of women in the last thirty years have enhanced our society, but there is still a long way to go."

Ensuring that everyone has access to the same opportunities has been a cornerstone of Ed's career in public life. Among his notable achievements in the arena of women's issues, Ed has:

Voted to fund Planned Parenthood in Lake County

For years has supported and campaigned for many women seeking public office ( see endorsements & supporters ), including Virginia Strom-Martin.

Served on the Domestic Violence Prevention Council.

Serves on the Children and Families First Commission, which funds health and pre-school programs for children under the age of 5 and their families.

Expanded Public Health programs, facilities and staffing in his home county.

Ed's plan to support the women of the First District rests on the following principles:

Support a woman's right to choose.

Oppose gender bias in all forms.

Support Social Justice at all levels of society.

Improve availability of health care services for women and families by working for a Universal Health Care system.

Continue improving education at all levels, from pre-school to grad school.

Enhance economic development in the District for all citizens.

Ed's twenty years of experience make him uniquely qualified to build bridges and bring people together, as he has always done. By working together, Ed plans to enhance the standing of all citizens of the North Coast.
