Ed Robey was born in 1946 and raised in Northern California. Ed developed his interest in community affairs in the Sixties while attending U.C. Berkeley. This was a tumultuous time of great social change, forging a generation that questioned the status quo and yearned to prove they could make the world a better place. Ed graduated in 1968, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in the field of Social Sciences.

After being a self-employed entrepreneur and small business owner for some years, Ed developed his expertise in the new technology of computers. He started the first computer systems business in Lake County in 1980 specializing in custom software and went on to build the county government?s computer network. He became a part-time instructor in Computer Science at the Mendocino College Lake County campus in 1982 where he still teaches today and holds a Lifetime Teaching Credential in Computers and Related Technologies.

During the 1970?s, Ed Robey became involved with the Lake County Energy Council, a group concerned with the environmental impacts of the emerging geothermal industry?s steam wells. Ed helped build an environmental partnership between the industry and the community that continues to prosper.

When the residents of Clearlake decided to incorporate in 1980, they called upon Ed to help found a new city and elected him to the first City Council. He served 3 terms on the Council and served two terms as Mayor. Ed then went on to serve eight years on the County Planning Commission, dealing with a multitude of growth and land use issues.

In 1996, Ed was elected as a County Supervisor. Four years later he ran unopposed for re-election. As Supervisor, Ed Robey?s talent for creative problem solving has earned him a reputation as a hard working leader determined to protect the community and its resources. Ed likes to work with all the stakeholders in an issue to find solutions that address their needs and concerns. He has a long and successful track record of accomplishments.

Just a few examples of Ed's accomplishments are:

Ed is vice-president of the Business Outreach Team, bringing economic development and over 1000 good jobs to Lake County.

Ed helped the wine grape industry to adopt environmentally sound hillside vineyard standards to prevent erosion.

He championed passage of a County grant to protect productive farmlands as "working open space" through the purchase of Agricultural Conservation Easements from willing landowners.

Ed wants to put his 20+ years of experience in public service to work for the First Assembly District. .
