Sally Lieber serves as both a local and regional leader in Silicon Valley, serving as Mayor of the City of Mountain View, as a Santa Clara County Commissioner, as Chair of the Santa Clara Valley Water Commission and recently as a member of the Valley Transportation Authority's Board of Directors.

In her role as a leader in local government, Sally has focused on expanding opportunities for youth, planning for a sustainable future, creating affordable housing and enhancing local government's collaboration with our schools and community organizations.

As a regional leader, Sally has been active in working to meet the Valley's transportation and housing needs through smart growth solutions and transit-oriented redevelopment of core downtown areas. She recently completed a term on the Valley Transportation Authority's Board of Directors and has been a leader in extending light rail and bringing BART to Santa Clara County.

A leader in local and regional planning, Sally has fought to preserve greenbelt areas and create trails and parks in the community. As a City Councilwoman, she led the fight to require the Navy to clean up the toxic contamination of the Moffett Field wetlands.

Active in community organizations, Sally serves as Co-President of the Mid-Peninsula YWCA Board of Directors and holds a county level leadership position with the League of Women Voters. As a member of the Healthy Ventures Collaborative, Sally has fought to expand health care services to children. She has also served as Chair of the Santa Clara County Children's Shelter Advisory Committee and the Santa Clara County Social Services Commission.

A strong advocate for education, Sally has been a leader in extending opportunity to many. She has served as a Steering Committee member and as Chair of a successful school bond measure and a school district merger campaign. In addition, Sally has served on site councils for local schools and as a community advisory member.

Sally has a special interest in the needs of non-traditional learners and at-risk teens. She created a successful mentoring program for at-risk teens and founded the Community Caring Scholarship, which provides assistance to non-traditional students who are returning to obtain their high school diplomas or moving from GED programs to college.

Sally is strongly pro-choice and active in the National Women's Political Caucus, Million Mom March of Silicon Valley, League of Women Voters, Women in Municipal Government and California Elected Women's Association for Education and Research.

Sally and her husband David have lived in Old Mountain View for eight years and are proud to be active in neighborhood and community activities.
