Member; California State Assembly; District 8; Democratic Party

Steve Hardy, 59, is a fourth-generation Vacaville resident.

Steve has dedicated his personal and professional life to public service. Born in San Francisco, Steve was an officer in the San Francisco Police Department for five years before beginning his career as a public policy specialist in Sacramento.

He has served as the Staff Director for the California State Senate Committee on Governmental Organization for 19 years. From 1980 through 1985 Steve was an advocate for the California State Employees' Association, the union of California's state workers.

Steve served as a Vacaville Unified School Board Member from 1987 through 1991 where, among other positions, he served as its President. He served as Chairman of the Solano County Drug Abuse Advisory Council in 1978 and 1979, and as a member of the Vacaville Human Services Commission from 1977 through 1979.

Prior to becoming a Police Officer, Steve served in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1966, as a radar operator on a destroyer.

Most importantly, Steve and his wife have been married for 35 years and are the parents of two grown children, both graduates of Vacaville public schools.

In addition to being a credentialed teacher, Steve holds a Master of Public Administration from University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Golden Gate University.

Steve is dedicated to continuing his commitment to public service for the people of Solano and Yolo Counties. That's why he's a candidate for the Assembly in the 8th district.
