Election Reform

By Gloria Purcell

Candidate for Member, Green Party County Council; County of San Mateo

This information is provided by the candidate
I want to end campaign corruption and the squandering of our tax dollars for corporate welfare, and to bring us closer to a true democracy with more sophisticated voting techniques and better representation.
A top priority of mine, and of the Green Party, is to end the appalling corruption that steals our money from schools and libraries, parks, police, fire, and medical services. To achieve our goal, we need Instant Runoff Voting (often called Choice Voting), and public campaign finance, with an end to corporate donations to politicians. As a founder and past County Council member of the San Mateo County local, I have volunteered countless hours working for related local initiatives, some of which have passed. I will continue to be in the forefront of progressive reform, and I will work to keep the Green Party of San Mateo County growing.
