"The strength of a community is in the health and well-being of it's citizens."
I wouldn't take "no" for an answer when it came to funding for new Sheriff's substantions in San Marcos and Fallbrook, and Astrea helicopter service to help protect North County residents. My unwavering support of public safety and law enforcement has earned me the support of Sheriff Bill Kolender and the San Diego County Sheriffs' Association.

I worked hard to give our North County youth an alternataive to gang life. By building unprecedented cooperation between police, prosecutors, the courts and County Social Services to create Drug Courts, increased truancy enforcement, the North County Gang Taskforce and the San Pasqual Academy, we have succeeded in keeping many more young people on track and out of gangs.

My colleagues and I have a solid reputation for making sound fiscal decisions. I am proud to be instrumental in setting aside Tobacco Settlement funds to be used in the event of a disaster and for upgrading the County's Quality Control Network which provides emergency workers with up-to-the-minute information on facility availability.
