Candidate Statement

By Alexandria A. "Alex" Coronado

Candidate for Member; County Board of Education; Trustee Area 2

This information is provided by the candidate
As a current school board Trustee, I have supported programs that help our children succeed and learn. I have overseen an annual budget of $208 million, and have made sure the money is spent on students, instead of wasted on bureaucracy.

I have worked with the community to:

  • Improve test scores.
  • Raise academic standards.
  • Support arts, science, and sports programs.

As your Trustee for the Orange County Board of Education, I will support:

  • High Academic Standards: phonics, arithmetic, arts, science, and history.
  • Local Control: return power to parents and local communities, not bureaucrats.
  • Accountability: fiscal accountability for students, teachers, and administrators.

I earned a Doctorate in Music Education from the University of Southern California, serve on the California School Board Leadership Council, and Chair the Cypress Cultural Arts Commission. I am also a proud parent.

My leadership and experience have earned me the endorsements of:

  • Congressmen Ed Royce and Dana Rohrabacher
  • Assemblymen Ken Maddox and Bill Campbell
  • Orange County Treasurer John Moorlach
  • Orange County Board of Education Member Dr. Ken Williams
  • School board members across the state of California
  • City Council Members throughout Orange County
  • Water Board Member throughout Orange County
  • And numerous teachers, parents, and students.
