CHARACTER

By Terry Lee Kaiser

Candidate for Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator; County of Monterey

This information is provided by the candidate
Terry Kaiser grew up in a military family. His father was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. Terry's early years were typically spent on the move as his Dad was transferred to different cities and countries. Because of his mother's ill health and his father's career, Terry was largely responsible for raising his four younger sisters and instilling them with the time-honored values of faith, respect, honor, and integrity. Terry remembers his mother telling him "Be truthful and honest -- that is the character of a man."

When he grew up, Terry followed his family tradition and entered the U.S. Navy, serving in the Naval Intelligence field and doing a tour of duty in Vietnam, stationed on the U.S.S. Hancock in the Gulf of Tonkin. Terry's father taught him to believe that serving his country was the greatest honor any man could claim.

Terry is married to Cheryl Ward-Kaiser.

They have six children and six grandchildren.
