NEW IDEAS:

  • Streamline Procedures to Reduce Waiting Time & Save
Money: Set up court hearings on a staggered calendar,
and allow witnesses to be "on call" with one hour's
    notice to appear in court.

  • Outreach Programs: Most people who come to court
represent themselves, because they simply cannot afford
an attorney. Other counties have "kiosks" where people
can put information into a program, and get printed out
forms; I would like to install these in the distant
areas of all of El Dorado County.

  • Child Care: Some space in the court must be set aside for
children who come to court, with their parents who are
witnesses or serving on a jury, or because the children
are witnesses or victims of a crime.

  • Grants to Provide More Services to the Public: There are
grants and programs available to assist rural counties
in serving their far flung residents, and expand the
services their courts can provide. I want to ensure that
El Dorado County gets a fair share of the available
monies, as a return of taxpayer funds for local needs.
