Outline of My Piorities

By Leslie Dinkin

Candidate for Member, Green Party County Council; County of Alameda; Supervisorial District 3

This information is provided by the candidate
This should provide you some general information about what I think and feel are important areas for the Green Party of Alameda County to address.
I believe the Green Party of Alameda County should be working to connect to other progressive persons and organizations working around Green issues, including global economic sustainability, anti-war, and environmental justice. Before we can do that, however, we need to collectively define our purpose as an organization. Are we here to raise funds? Are we here to support potential candidates? Are we here to provide electoral analysis through our voter guide? Are we here to fight and campaign around issues? I know it will be hard work, but it is crucial for us to have a clear purpose, strategies, and goals for the next two years and into the future. I pledge to do all I can to develop a consensus around this so that we can move forward as a county Party.

I believe our purpose as an organization is to be a grassroots force for political, economic, and social change. We need to work to activate volunteers on a regular basis to increase our numbers and our political clout. I support the formation of local chapters of the Green Party and am very proud to have helped the Oakland Greens get off the ground.
