Desley Brooks is an attorney, chief legislative aide, and community activist. As an Oakland City Councilwoman, Desley will deliver energetic, results-oriented advocacy for improving neighborhood services, fighting blight, and improving education.
Desley's priorities are:

  • Neighborhood Safety. Desley supports a neighborhood, beat-oriented model of community policing and will work aggressively to obtain every federal and state dollar available to fight violence.
  • Jobs and Business Development. Desley will lead efforts to bring a Farmers' Market to District 6 and revitalize the District's commercial corridors.
  • Children's Services. Desley supports the expansion of after-school activities, including turning school sites into after-school centers that provide tutorial, health, and recreational services and programs for families.
