Reexamine Village Resources

By James P. Wright

Candidate for Member Council; Village of Greenhills

This information is provided by the candidate
We have been told for years that our village is fully developed. Are the existing resources fully serving the needs of most of the community?
Greenhills has little chance of expanding in geographic size, so I beleive that special consideration needs to be given to our existing resources. Some of these are vastly underutilized and are supported handsomely with taxpayer dollars.

I beleive that we, as a community, need to llok at each of these resources, see how many residents are actually benefitting and at what cost.

For example, did you know that it cost the village tax payers $1,000 per day in payroll alone to keep the pool open during the summer months. As a businessman, this payroll cost seems a bit high to keep the pool open and my first course of action would be to see if these can be lowered. It's a great pool, but it's not taken advantage enough by the residents. I believe that if the costs of operating the pool could be more fully examined and reduced, more village residents could afford the annual memebership fee and use the pool more often.
